All building products, whether it be building materials or complete structures, must conform to strict regulations put forth by the Building Code of Australia as well as Australian Standards.
In many cases, a product will not be allowed to be utilised in a build unless it is certified by a governing body. Or, a structure will not be allowed to be erected if it is not certified by a third party engineer.
The design of any building product or structure must be designed with these certifications in mind which may encompass more than just structural integrity, even life-span, fire, hygiene, noise transmission and many other factors.
