If it’s good enough to make SpiderMan-2 and new Netflix movies, it’s great for our product renders!
SpiderMan-2 was one of the first big budget films to use Blender back in 2004 as a major part of its workflow. Lots of the new Netflix movies and some blockbusters are using it now to make amazing content end-to-end.
We have started using Blender to improve the quality of our product renders. It has a steep learning curve, but once into it, it is amazingly powerful.
Nicole is an amazingly talented Graphic Designer and has found her place doing Industrial Design using Blender.
We are finding the combination of freedom with Blender and a different way of thinking from the Industrial Design side, is giving some of the products we are working on, the edge, to capture their markets better than us rigid engineers, using CAD.
SolidWorks PhotoView 360 and SolidWorks Visualise are still great products for making fast rendered images to give our engineers and draftsmen working in CAD an understanding of the product's Form. But Blender, when used right, really takes product renders to the next level.
Being Open Source, we are only just scratching the surface with it as well. We can make rendered videos, overlay video content and so much more in the one package.
Blender is truly amazing, and in my opinion, Democratising Product Development.
My personal opinion is that more Open Source design and engineering tools need to be used so that we can make products faster, cheaper and better to enhance our lives and combat climate change.
But that's just me!
